It is time to get back to business at the golf course. The weather is acting like it is the middle of May. For us we are maintaining the golf course at full steam. All of our summer staff has yet to arrive so we have been doing our best to stay on top of the work load. As the fairways have begun to break dormancy we have been working to change most of the mowing lines. Ben Balentine, Golf Professional, Jim Sparks, Greens Committee Chairman, and myself have been identifying areas where we can widen fairways and approaches. This is allowing more shots to be played from the fairway cut (speed of play and player enjoyment) and adding a more classic look to the course. We have taken it a step further and mowed out collection areas around many greens. This is a classic Donald Ross tactic and will give the player more shot options to be played.
