The project has started! Despite some weather delays we are currently back on schedule. 3+ inches of rain at the beginning of the week caused the work to get off to a slow start, but near perfect conditions have set in. This week we have been working on holes 12, 13, 16, 17, and 18. One of the best parts of removing this much sod is our ability to regrade areas around the greens. For us this is particularly important as the course is drained via swales and the natural lay of the land. One great example of this is on #12. On the right side, between the green and the cart path, we used to have a ditch and two non-functioning catch basins. The contractor was able to eliminate both the ditch and catch basins by reshaping and redirecting surface water towards the back and front of the green. The result is a cleaner look and safer access to the green. As we move from hole to hole significant and subtle changes are occurring that we will highlight as we move along.
