Work continues

We continue to make great progress and the weather has been phenomenal.  Over the past couple of days we have stripped, prepped, and laid sod on holes 15, 8, and 2.  Some extra time was spent on holes 8 and 15.

The green on 15 had a tendency to hold water after a rain event due to the lack of surface drainage on the left side of the green.  A goal of this project is to repair these areas by re contouring the outside of the green cavity and encourage water to get away as fast as possible.  Our greens are push up greens.  Meaning they are built out of native soil with no internal drainage.  The only way to help them drain is for the green to be sloped allowing for surface drainage to occur.  The water must them be picked up outside the green, in swales, and carried away.

We also has a water issue to deal with on the 8th hole.  The left greenside bunker would blow out after a storm because the water coming off the green and approach would deposit into the bunker.  Not any more.  Our contractor, Medalist Golf, was able to divert the water further onto the approach and around the edge of the bunker.  It is great to have these areas opened up to perform some cosmetic work.
