The 2012 Club Championship starts tomorrow! The golf course is in excellent condition and our staff has done an outstanding job preparing for this event. The only negative has been...dare I say it...too much rain. I know that I should not complain when a great majority of the United States is experiencing a severe drought. I talked to a buddy of mine in the Midwest this week. On average he irrigates his golf course yearly with 20 million gallons of water. In June and July alone he used 16 million gallons!
Our course is holding up well in these soupy conditions. The pressure for disease development has been elevated, the rough is growing like a Chia Pet, and the greens have been a bit on the slow side. The turf is about as lush as I have seen it. The definition between the various heights of cut is very aesthetically pleasing. Conditions for the tournament are about where we want it. A bit more speed on the greens would be ideal, just enought to give the ball a little roll out.
