Sometimes you run across things that just make you scratch your head and there is no reason to try to figure out the "why." Our staff has been doing a good bit of irrigation work this winter and recently we came across this 4" leaking fitting. For those in the know the photo is self explanatory. For others the easiest way to explain this is that the pipe should be in a straight line not at an angle. I am betting that the irrigation contractor who installed this in no longer in business.
