Supression

34
Agronomic practices are beginning to occur around the golf course.  After letting my mind wonder for a few months it's time to get turf on the brain!  One of our first responsibilities on the greens is management of the seed heads from the poa annua.  These seed heads are a natural occurrence for this type of turf and one that if left unchecked can become a real nuisance.  Our goal is to apply growth regulators, Proxy and Primo, for their suppression.  Naturally the plant wants to put its energy into seed head production.  Our goal is to suppress this occurrence and encourage the plant to re-direct this energy into its root system.  Our first application was applied this week and we'll follow up with a second in a few weeks.  Even with these products and the latest research 100% control does not occur.
