The golf bug has bitten. It has been great to see returning members and increased activity on the course. The topic of the driving range tee has again begun to surface regarding hitting on mats or the turf. Here is where we currently stand. The tee decks were overseeded in the fall with the goal of hitting more consistently on the turf this spring. Divots made now will be extremely slow to heal even with the ryegrass. Our staff seeds the divoted areas each week, but germination and establishment of that seed takes quite a bit of time. To sum it up, damage done now will be evident until late May early June when the Bermuda (underneath the ryegrass) begins to actively grow again. Our current "schedule" for the range is hitting on mats Monday-Thursday and hitting off turf Friday-Sunday.
