The golf season is in full swing. I am happy to report that all of our seasonal staff members from last season returned for another year. The weather has been cool and wet allowing our cool season rough to get pretty burly, especially over the weekends. Our basic status has been mowing and maintaining the golf course. The greens are excellent! I am excited about our new fertility strategies along with adding additional days of rolling the greens. Below are a few extras that we have been up to...
The new ditch on #9 took a good beating this winter during frequent heavy rainfalls. While no vegetation would grow during the winter on the new walls of the creek, we slowly watched the creek get deeper and the sides sluff down. Now, we have some good seed growth except on the more vertical walls. We took some leftover sod and wallpapered the banks, fingers crossed.
One good thing about allowing staff members to take off work to hunt is fresh venison and turkey at lunch!
Since we redid the bunker at the practice area, I have been surprised that players still congregate to the same corner when practicing.
