We have now completed spraying out all of the bermudagrass fairways and approaches with roundup. This is a time consuming process, using different application procedures, that helps clean up any unwanted rogue weeds. Working around the greens is where we need to be most careful. In the photo below you can see that we use a shield along the perimeter of the green to keep the product from drifting onto the putting surface. Unfortunately, we worked some of these areas on a windy day, and despite the shield some roundup drifted onto the greens causing some tip burn on the turf. Since the chemical was not directly applied to the burnt areas, I am optimistic that the turf will survive once we aerify and spring growing conditions return.
